Blackstone Griddle Upgraded Regulator!!! Amazing Difference!!!
How to avoid low pressure flames on your Blackstone griddle and increase heat of grill.
I love my 36" Blackstone Griddle. I use it 2 to 3 times a week.
But to me, it reached around 350 to 450 degrees, and my research showed it should reach 600.
The Regulator on the Blackstone's are crap.
Since I already went through this with my three 100lb Propane tanks at a Propane store they set me up with a professional regulator. I went through two hurricanes with my Propane Generator, perfect operation.
Now Propane comes out around 20 psi, and Blackstone and most Gas Grills need 2-3 lbs. Hence a regulator.
I noticed different results with the regulator that came with the Blackstone, sometimes it worke...

But that is not really why I upgraded. I live i...

    You don't use Teflon tape on those type of gas fittings. Besides, you are using the wrong tape for gas, it should be the yellow tape.

    You know, you can get those blue rhinos refilled too... I buy them from Blue Rhino so every 5 years or so I turn the old tanks back into them and get a new tank. Otherwise, I fill up at Tractor Supply or Uhaul. It costs $10-$15 to refill and you actually get 20 gallons instead of Blue Rhino's 15 for $30.

    What about tank to barbecue adapter?

    • @miamitreasurehunter
      @miamitreasurehunter Месяц назад

      Hi. There are two kinds of Propane adapters. 1 which is your typical gas grill. the other is for commercial delivery of propane by a propane truck. In this Video these will not connect to a Grill, they can be setup this way, but for my generator it is a different connector, a 3/8" female connector is needed from the hose that connects my Propane tank to the Generator. On a grill the connector hose is different and needs that large plastic knob that screws on to the small 20 lb propane tank. Now I just bought a 40lb propane tank for 99$ and that is a different gas hose that connects straight to the connector/hose coming out of my grill. You need to go to a store that sells propane supplies and tell them this. The key point is 3/8" is the standard on the grill that a propane hose connects to If you have any further questions feel free to e-mail me at miami.treasurehunter@gmail as this can get a bit complicated.

    It amazes me how in a hurricane Everybody wants to run everything in the house. This is survival. Just think of yourself as going camping. Get a camping stove, or lanterns that use batteries or lamp oil. Portable buddy and / or a big buddy propane heater. Pick one room occupy that room heat just that room this is survival !! I've watched people that want to have the ceiling fan, lights, stove etc. on in the house As if nothing is happening. As if this just any old regular day. I bought a small chest freezer and put everything from my refrigerator into the freezer and bought a cooler refrigerator freezer. Put it in the refrigerator cooler. I will take 2 or 3 days worth a food from my freezer. Put it into my refrigerator cooler style refrigerator and let it fall and keep. And eat food from there. that way. I would only have to open up my chest freezer every 2 or 3 days. Conserving energy and the refrigerator cooler doesn't take as much power as a regular size refrigerator. Remember, This is survival. remember his just for 2,3, 4, or 5 days. Not to mention when everyone is doing without during a hurricane, your loud generator is going and the house is lit up just like it's any regular day, drawing all of that attention. You wouldn't need even half of that fuel if you had just been in survival mode. And not try to light up and run everything in a 3 or $400.000 house. Like there's nothing happening. this is survival!! get you a butt eater. Just run what you need to run, get canned food. Camping stoves, just whatever try to run your entire house. Using a ball that gas and propane. To live like nothing's happening. And as far as putting gas back in the car. I don't know what about a long funnel.

      Thanks for all the advice. So true my man. I just bought a 40lb Propane tank to power my Blackstone Griddle 36" I can cook 50 cooks on that easy if the power goes out. We live in Florida so luckily we just use a fan. I have moved to a bigger home since this video and set that up to power most of my house minus the A/C. You have minor hurricanes and major hurricanes. The one that his last year wiped out huge neighborhoods and tore houses all up. That made me re-think everything. My 6' deep freeze like yours if always filled up with 40 bags of ice. I have a 96 quart huge ice chest to keep our fridge contents if it fails. I have gotten into canning so that food/veggies are always available. My older Pellet smoker only got to 350 or so and couldn't boil soups. But my Blackstone griddle can get to 600 I can boil soups, or put a skilled on it and fry fish etc. You are so right about survival and after the last time all came to me to plug in their cored to my generator really opened my eyes, it isn't just about us, how do you deal with all your neighbors who aren't prepared like we are. Hurricane Ian absolutely leveled towns. That is how I think now. I can go mobile with my truck, load generator, propane tanks and food and tents, gas lights etc out of the affected area. Good to see you are so prepared my man !

    I was thinking of doing a similiar setup. I've been through a few hurricanes and gas in populated areas gets scarce in about 3 fays so I went with a tri fuel Firman 10k. I was thinking about going with 2 x 100 lb tanks but now I'm thinking I would be better off goung with a few 40 lbs instead. Do you know how much runtime you get of a 100lb tank?

    • @miamitreasurehunter
      @miamitreasurehunter Месяц назад

      Hi on average you get about 8 to 10 hours on a 100lb tank You have to think in amps as a stove is 25 amps , lights 5 amps, etc. Each generator has a max Amp load. Mine is 50 amps. I have 3 100lb tanks just for the generator and just last week I bought a larger 40lb for my Blackstone Griddle. So many areas to fill propane around. My 40lb cost 99$ and a 100lb is 135 so the cost isn't a huge factor. But lifting the 100 and moving it around is a bit of a deal, even the 40llb tank is pretty darn heavy. I am just realizing that no matter how little space I have in my garage, I have to get a dolly to move this around ! I would advise a 100lb as when you need it, you don't know how long the power will be out. 3-5 days on light damage, weeks to months on major damage hurricanes. I have 3 100lb on the inside wall of my garage, they have been there 4 years waiting in the wings. These tanks last 10 to 15 years and longer if they are covered and protected from the elements. I just remember the last hurricane, there was a filling station for propane and a mile long line of people with little grill 20lb tanks. I just dropped of my 3 via my truck, waited in line and then picked them up with my truck once done. So again, I would go with the 100lb because at the end of the day, you can burn that pretty fast and the cost difference of the 40 vs 100 is small. Plus you get to be the boss of your block when power goes out !!!

    The bevel or tampered fitting do not require teflon tape. Only the sqaure or flat fitting and you never use plain white tape. You use the yellow that does not degrade from the propane. White plumbing tape will cause leaks.

    To the best of my knowledge, don’t haul metal gas cans in a truck bed with plastic bed liner, I think that’s why they went away from the metal cans because of the static from the plastic bedliner to the metal can was dangerous, just something to keep in mind

    You used the wrong tape for the connections. Propane is corrosive and will eat that tape. You need the yellow tape specifically made for gas. You also dont need tape on the those fittings that are tapered.

    Around 1:14 you make a false statement. Perhaps you just mis-spoke. The correct thing to say is that one should only use thread tape on tapered threads. If using for propane, the thread tape must be compatible with propane. Do not put thread tape on straight threads. Straight threads are used where o-rings, or washers, or flares are used to make contact and seal.

      Thanks Sir. On my 100lb propane tank, an average of 8 hours on light load. You also have to think in amps. A stove is 25 amps, fan 2 amp, lights in the house 5 amps. I have a 50 amp generator so the more load, the faster the propane is use. I kept it light, only a fan on and my refrigerator and my chest freezer during the day. AC will drain a 100lb is about 3 hours so no AC. Remember propane stations don't need electricity so have a good one in your back pocket to take your tanks to. Mine 3 100lb I had a propane delivery service that came to my house to fill my tanks. Thanks for your compliment on my video !

      Hi. my Duramax is restarted every year to test it. I quit using a battery as they proved unreliable. I has a pull start which works like a champ. So 6 years and counting ! 3 years ago I had a company that would come out to fill the tanks, they closed but there is another one near me. I have propane filling stations 10 minutes away and via my truck (or last time my car in the back seat) I can take them to the propane station and fill them up. One didn't like my car as Propane has to be stood up by law when transporting but now with a truck I can strap them in. 9,000 watts is pretty good for 90% of your home. I remember during the last hurricane that hit us, I ran the generator night and day. In the end my then girlfriend, now wife's condo was no affected so I stayed with her to enjoy the A/C I told the neighbors if they could find gas or propane they could use it, so it ran 5 days solid.

      Ha thanks, I appreciate the compliment. Since I moved to a bigger home I expanded to professional installed connector from my breaker box to my reliant plug I put my generator in to power my house. Also think, and you know after Ian which leveled homes along the cost of Sansibel Island and area, I have 3 100lb propane tanks, and now a 40lb propane tank to power my Blackstone Griddle where I can cook anything ! I also got into Canning food as my chest freezer last about 3 days before it melts. To me we have mild hurricanes with 3-5 days power and major ones like Ian which are devastating. I remember clearly going to Publix and mile long lines and nothing in the meat sections and they ran out of fuel for their generators. Oddly the Blackstone Griddle with my 40lb tanks turned out to be great for hurricanes as I can cook anything. Good luck and great job preparing!

    Buy 2 100LB propane tanks and buy a soft start kit for your A/C. The soft start will cut your amperage and lower your wattage load and allow you to conserve propane, which is probably your biggest issue in terms of power consumption. Or, you can convert it to Natural Gas and try that.

    Should have got 5 gallon VIP jugs - they are the best. I have 8. Have no idea what you are talking about regarding opening a gas can every week to release the fumes. Who opens their their plastic lawnmower gas can every week to release the fumes? Vapor pressure within the can is achieved and stabilizes within an hour of sealing a gas can. Releasing it does nothing but restarting the process of repressurizing it again. Yeh lesson about propane is a good one. I would go with NG but since you did not mention it I assumed it was not available in your area. Nice video

    • @condor5635
      @condor5635 Месяц назад

      @@miamitreasurehunter - not sure how you ever got water in them. I think it would be by releasing the pressure multiple times. Another reason why you don’t release the pressure because then you just re-introduce humid air which then can condense into water into the gas. Jerry cans are as good as VP cans in sealing. Introduction of water in a good can/jug shouldn’t be a possible whatsoever if sealed and left alone. Three 100 pound propane tanks- that’s sweet! Although that’s a lot of propane and introduces risks just like gas does maybe not as high
